It's official! Details of the plug-in hybrid version of the new Italian compact SUV are now available. The most anticipated model in the Alfa Romeo lineup in 2023, it marks the beginning of a long production run of low climate impact vehicles. Let's discover together the highlights of the 2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale in its PHEV version.
When it comes to plug-in hybrids, one of the most important elements of this vehicle is without a doubt the engine.
Like many vehicles using this technology, the Alfa Romeo Tonale will benefit from a gasoline engine for the front wheels and an electric motor for the rear wheels to offer all-wheel drive (Q4 system), which is very popular during the winter in Quebec.
On the gas side, the Tonale will have a 1.3L 180 horsepower engine under the hood combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The battery, placed at the rear of the vehicle, will allow the Tonale to propel its rear wheels.
The combined power of these two technologies gives the owner of this SUV a total of 280 horsepower. Lovers of sensations and driving pleasure should be satisfied with this new SUV.
In its official press release, Alfa Romeo also announced a 40% reduction in emissions compared to the gasoline version.
For Canada, and North America in general, the Tonale PHEV 2024's range has been set at 53 KM in 100% electric mode.
This autonomy will be more than enough to allow the lucky owners to drive to work in the morning without using gasoline.
Present in the Giulia and Stelvio models, this system allows you to select driving modes to adjust your Alfa Romeo to your journey your desires. In the new Tonale 2024, however, it will be somewhat different with the arrival of the plug-in hybrid engine.
This mode will offer the best performance and driving sensations. By optimizing the parameters of the gas pedal, the transmission and the response time of the steering.
Hybrid driving on all-wheel drive to optimize performance. The use of the internal combustion engine and the electric motor is automatically managed, saving energy and fuel without sacrificing performance.
This mode has been calibrated to achieve maximum fuel efficiency in fully electric driving mode. It is the ideal driving mode for city center travel as it allows full compliance with traffic and emission limits.
